Just a few weeks ago, we had the remarkable experience of presenting Ezell: Ballad of a Land Man. It was one of our most ambitious projects to date and it asked audience members to try something new. I’m grateful for those who trusted in us and were willing to explore Ezell’s world and Fairfield Osborn Preserve.
I’ve heard from many who attended that they found this work inspiring and appreciated the care taken to build the unique experience. I’ve been amazed by this company’s work for many years and it was a thrill to have them here in Sonoma County. We made an online program with Bob Martin and Carrie Brunk in 2021 that includes interviews with them and video excerpts from Ezell. It was part of our series The Green Room, which we made while we were closed. If you haven’t seen it or would like to revisit the ideas of the piece, you can view it at this link.
Many noted that the Green Music Center put significant resources forward to bring the Ezell performances to life. We’ve been working to expand our capacity to present new and experimental work both in terms of having great audiences for it and the resources to pull it off.
We look to our supporters to increase the kind of programming that investigates ideas over time, and brings to bear community-sized conversations and insights. We continue to seek partners who are willing to join hands with us to make this happen and find ways to make it as accessible to our communities as possible.
Would you be interested in a conversation about this? About supporting artists to create their most inspiring work? I’d be happy to discuss it further with you. Your participation and donations can make more great projects happen in the future.
Best wishes,
Jacob Yarrow
