Amidst an election season that resulted in increased voter turn out and participation, Las Cafeteras returned to the region, this time in The Green Room, showcasing songs that they wrote to get out the vote. Their public program accompanied extensive work in online classrooms across the region energizing young people to take action on behalf of the issues they care about.
Wynton Marsalis featured prominently in The Green Room with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. They performed Marsalis’ composition, The Democracy! Suite, which proved to be a popular swinging and stimulating instrumental rumination on the issues that have recently dominated our lives as well as the beauty that could emerge from a collective effort to create a better future.
