When Weill Hall opened at the Green Music Center, the owners of Cartograph Wines were ecstatic to learn that there was a new space focused on hosting musical events that connect and build relationships within the community. Passionate for music, founders Alan Baker and Serena Lourie wanted to find a way for their winery to get involved. Since our 2017-2018 season, Cartograph Wines has generously sponsored various events here at the Green Music Center including just this season, Global Roots Sonoma, New Century Chamber Orchestra, and Third Coast Percussion & Zakir Hussain. Cartograph Wines focuses on more than just wine, they have a deep emphasis on serving and giving back to communities, with the Green Music Center being one of many! Last year, we were thrilled when Alan joined our Board of Advisors at the Green Music Center.
About Cartograph
In 2009, two individuals passionate about winemaking came together and created Cartograph Wines. Starting at Crushpad in San Francisco, Alan and Serena collaborated to curate their own wines, later transporting 50 cases of Pinot Noir to the heart of Sonoma County, Healdsburg! This collaboration is what sparked the start of their journey together as Cartograph Wines. They weren’t always winemakers, though. Alan began in Minnesota with a remarkable career in public radio where he produced and recorded classical music. In 2005, he moved to California seeking any and all opportunities to pursue the wine industry. Serena worked dutifully in healthcare as a registered nurse, later pivoting to technology and entrepreneurial startups, though her interest in wine remained all the way from her family’s Sunday meals in Pentrez, Fance.
We are grateful to Cartograph wines for their devotion to our mission at the Green Music Center to investigate ideas and provide access to diverse artistic experiences that educate, connect, and inspire.
Corporate contributions are critical to the Green Music Center and their support brings incredible performers from all over the world to Sonoma County. We are thankful to our corporate partners for their deep commitment to fostering thriving communities through the arts and education, and for supporting the ways we enrich the quality of life for everyone in our region.
