pianoSonoma

pianoSonoma is a music festival that brings together Artists in Residence (current conservatory music majors or recent graduates) and adult musicians of all backgrounds to collaborate and perform in private and public concerts and community workshops in Sonoma County and across the United States. It just completed its 5th annual summer residency at the GMC. Founded by the artistic team of Jessica Chow Shinn and Michael Shinn, pianoSonoma has become a spectacular summer festival with preeminent performers from across the United States.

Each year, the festival brings together musicians from all walks of life to collaborate, perform, and deepen their artistry. The festival’s Artists in Residence boasts superstar talents from such institutions as The Juilliard School, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and New England Conservatory of Music. Festival participants – adult musicians of varied backgrounds — have the experience of working with the Artists in Residence through rehearsals, masterclasses, and private performances.

A hallmark of the summer’s activities, pianoSonoma’s Vino & Vibrato Concert Series features its Artists in Residence in four evenings of public concerts, which blend a wine tasting with a performance. Each program is carefully curated to provide adventurous forays into repertoire not commonly heard as well as traditional works presented in stunning fashion.
