The partnership between the Green Music Center and Oliver’s Market is a natural fit. Both of our organizations are values-driven: the Green Music Center is committed to presenting a diverse array of artistic experiences that bring our communities together, and Oliver’s is committed to offering a diverse array of products and managing their business for the benefit of employees, communities, and the environment.
Oliver’s founder and president, Steve Maass, serves on the Green Music Center’s Board of Advisors and believes in the power of music to positively impact people and communities. And that care and support for others’ extends far beyond the support that Oliver’s gives to the Green Music Center. Through its community card, Oliver’s has donated more than $3 million to local schools and charities, including Sonoma County Beekeepers Association, Sonoma Sister Cities Association, North Bay Italian Cultural Foundation, Summerfield Waldorf School, Social Advocates for Youth, Sonoma County Dancers United, Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue, and many more. It supports little league teams and school sports programs, as well as numerous annual events like the Cotati Music and Accordion Festivals, Gravenstein Apple Fair, Press Democrat Youth Service Awards, and Windsor Summer Nights. Primary community partners of Oliver’s include Ceres Community Project, Humane Society of Sonoma County, and the Redwood Empire Food Bank.
Oliver’s supports local businesses in the area by offering more than 6,000 local (meaning Sonoma County) products. They utilize solar power at their headquarters, and transitioned to 100% recycled paper for all general office uses.
And the community recognizes all that Oliver’s does. Recently, Oliver’s was awarded the Rotary District 5130 Ethics in Business Award for Large Businesses and Progressive Grocer’s 2021 Outstanding Independent Grocery store awards, Oliver’s has been named the “Best Grocery Store” By the North Bay Bohemian readers annually since 2000, and from 2015-2019, it won the Press Democrat’s “Best Local Produce” category or the “Best of Sonoma County.” Between 2017 and 2019, they added “Best Local Grocery Store”, “Best Butcher”, and “Best Deli” to their “Best of” honors.
This holiday season, consider shopping at Oliver’s Market if you don’t already – they are a remarkable organization that cares deeply about our region. And next time you are there, thank the employees for all they do for Sonoma County!
