As the sun stays in the sky longer, and the temperature heats up, the summer season here at the Green Music Center will soon arrive. While we have many long-time Summer at the Green veterans, we equally have many newcomers. For the Green Music Center, here is a list of do’s and don’ts that are sure to elevate your experience! Every venue you go to has different rules and regulations, so always check before heading to an event.
In the summer it is important to stay hydrated. At the Green Music Center we have water bottle fill stations with filtered water available! So bring your reusable water bottle and as you’re continuing to stay hydrated during our outdoor concerts and events, reuse your bottle and rehydrate yourself. This is a permanent fixture of our grounds, so it is also available in the winter!
While you are out on our fabulous lawn, we recommend bringing a blanket. This has many purposes, like keeping your clothes clean from grass or dirt, or keeping you warm once the sun goes down and the breeze sets in. A blanket is always a good idea to keep you comfortable!
As someone who has lived in Northern California their whole life, and as a someone who is chronically cold, I cannot recommend layers enough. It can be easy to forget when the majority of the day has you sweating, but once the sun goes down and the breeze from the pacific comes rolling over the hills, you will always be glad to have a jacket. Light layers also provide great sun protection!
Speaking of sun protection, don’t forget your sunscreen. While everyone loves a good summer tan, it’s best to keep the sun bathing at home and keep your skin protected. Don’t forget to reapply!
A hat is a great way to protect your head (nothing worse than a sunburn on your scalp!). Protecting yourself from glare will enhance your summer experience so make sure to add it to your list when heading to the lawn. On that note…
While a hat is great, sunglasses give that additional protection to your eyes. Save yourself the constant squinting and pack some sunglasses with you.
Everyone has different needs when it comes to an outing; especially during the summer when the sun seems to be at its full power. While the lawn is always a favorite for summer concerts, don’t forget that we continue to offer indoor seating and table seating as well. Whether you’re sensitive to the sun or have someone who might be more comfortable sitting indoors or at a table, don’t forget about our different seating options!
It is always nice to unwind with an adult beverage or a smoke. However, we do not allow outside alcohol onto our premises. Feel free to leave it at home and purchase your wine or beer from our vendors! Sonoma State is a smoke free campus and smoking is unfortunately never allowed on our grounds.
While it’s always nice to have personal time, and take yourself out on a date, summer and summer shows are always fun to share with the special people in your life! Bring a blanket and a picnic basket and as you enjoy the performances or movies, also enjoy spending time with your loved ones.
Our ushers are there to help make your experience at the Green Music Center enjoyable. Got a question? They will be happy to answer your questions!
Keep these in mind and enjoy your summer!
