About the Center

architect's rendering of Green Music Center

The heart of the 105,435-square-foot Green Music Center, a part of the Sonoma State University campus in Rohnert Park, California, is its world-class concert hall, designed to perfectly showcase acoustic music and the human voice.

At the Green Music Center, audiences and performers will experience music as few ever have the privilege to know it. Music that immerses us in its beauty; that brings out the finest talents of its performers and the deepest appreciation in its listeners.

The Green Music Center will be a place where the next generation of fine musicians, vocalists, and dancers will develop their artistry, a place where the world of arts and ideas will thrive.

The essence of the Green Music Center is collaboration, about what human beings can accomplish when working and creating together. This is a collaboration of spirit and imagination, and down-to-earth needs. The Green Music Center is about all our gifts, whether from those who plan or build or donate or volunteer or perform or teach.

This is the vision, and the promise, of the Green Music Center.

Named by Jean Schulz, wife of the late Charles Schulz, creator of the Peanuts cartoon strip, Schroeder’s Recital Hall features seating for 250 in a cathedral-like building, tall and thin, designed to accentuate the melodic voice and instrument as they move throughout the hall.

But the Green Music Center will include much more. Music Education Hall will house Sonoma State University's expanding music and performing arts programs. It will also accommodate performances by community groups, and Greenfarm, the performing arts educational programs of music of the center for students of all ages and backgrounds.

The Green Music Center Hospitality Center will offer an expansive banquet and executive retreat center with meeting rooms and a restaurant for both indoor and outdoor dining.
