Construction Update — July 15, 2008
The Green Music Center's various buildings are in different stages of construction work:
Concert Hall

A very exciting change: all of the scaffolding has been removed from both the inside and outside of the concert hall. The exterior can now be clearly seen in all its glory. The wood and stone work are beautiful; the windows, doors, lights and detail are truly world-class. The balcony railings are in place and the final wall and ceiling wood and textures are nearly complete. The lobby still has a cement floor at this point. It's very easy to look at the "grand staircase" in the lobby and imagine an evening at the Symphony or other performance. See the latest video of the Green Music Center
Music Education Hall
This building is fairly complete as faculty and staff from the Music Department move in this month. Students begin taking classes there this fall. The exterior of the building is complete with paint, all finishes, windows and doors. All offices, classrooms and other spaces are finished and some furniture and other fixtures have been moved in. The excitement of taking over this magnificent new space can be seen on the faces of those who are moving there. A fence will be erected around the Music Education Hall so students, faculty and staff can inhabit the building while work in other areas of the GMC continues.
SCHROEDER'S RECITAL HALL
Once complete, Schroeder's will be very much like a European cathedral, with a high ceiling and shaped walls. The rooms connecting Schroeder’s with Music Education Hall are in the process of completion and include ensemble and practice rooms.
HOSPITALITY CENTER
.
The work continue with the hospitality center design company to create a space for dining and special events. Portions of the hospitality center are anticipated to open in Spring 2009.
