The Green Music Center Concert Hall has been designed to become one of the great concert halls of the world. Modeled after Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood in Massachusetts (the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra), the 1,400-seat hall has been designed by Ozawa's architect, William Rawn, and acoustician, Lawrence Kirkegaard. Like Ozawa, the hall's interior, with its rich wood paneling and flooring, will enhance acoustic music and the human voice. Symphonic, chamber, vocal and choral music, and lectures will all find their perfect expression in the concert hall.

In addition to its brilliant acoustics, a signature feature of the hall will be the rear wall, which will be opened to lawns accommodating up to 10,000 additional concert-goers. Northern California's long summer season of warm, dry weather, and tradition of producing great wines and food, makes it the perfect open-air venue for the summer Green Music Festival. And Sonoma State University's scenic campus, with views of Sonoma County's beautiful hills, offers a natural setting.

A year-round program of visiting artists will light up the Green Music Center. In addition, the Santa Rosa Symphony will be orchestra-in-resident. Regular performance series will feature artists and lecturers from throughout the region, the nation and the world.
