the diagram above shows the types of programming planned for the green music center. (Click on the image to see a larger version.)
Despite being under construction, the Green Music Center has become a focus for the performing arts and arts education at Sonoma State University through several programs (listed below). Once fully open, the Green Music Center will also play host to many community and arts organizations. Additionally, the Santa Rosa Symphony will make the GMC its performance home as the orchestra-in-residence: The Green Music Festival kicks off each summer with a variety of concerts and programs ranging from chamber music and dance to jazz and the visual arts. Greenfarm, the Arts + Education youth program of the Green Music Center, offers a vibrant summer program where students and professional artists interact, learn, listen and perform together. Sonoma State University's Center for Performing Arts presents a wide array of music and theatre performances by students and community members, guest artists, student recitals and other events. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute has plans to offer programs for students 50 years of age and better that will complement the summer music festival, engaging them in arts appreciation.
